A popular online course with national retail food organisations, covering essential information on how to implement safe food handling and storage practices within a retail food environment. This course applies to front line service personnel involved in preparing, displaying and selling food in a retail environment.
Food Safety Supervisor Course (Nationally Accredited)
This unit covers the full requirements to be a Food Safety Supervisor in the Retail industry. This course takes an in-depth look at what is essential to implement safe food handling and storage practices and a food safety program within a retail food environment.
This course covers how to test for and correct any breaches in food safety, understand how to dispose of waste and contaminated goods safely, and maintain personal hygiene in a manner appropriate to the workplace. This includes knowing what to do, and what not to do, in the case of illness. This course applies to frontline service personnel involved in preparing, displaying and selling retail food.
The Food Safety Supervisor course for the Retail industry can be accessed 24/7 through a 100% interactive online course. You will be provided with interactive and stimulating learning content and assessment that is easy to understand and complete. The assessment section provides you with the opportunity to access a range of multiple-choice questions as well as real world scenario questions. If a food safety course does not have someone come out to observe you in person in the workplace, we need your supervisor at work to sign off that you have the required on the job skills and knowledge. The really great thing about this course is that there is no requirement for you to download workplace observation documents, have them physically signed by someone in your workplace and then have to go to the hassle of re-uploading them again. This is because we have a very unique 100% electronic solution for you, where you everything is absolutely 100% online. With no hidden documents or chasing up people in your spare time, this feature alone could save you huge amounts of your precious time.
Most state governments require businesses operating with food to ensure they have a certified Food Safety Supervisor, and this course meets this requirement, providing you with the information you need to make sure your food business is compliant.
NOTE: This course is also the correct course to select if you are required to do a re-certification of your Food Safety Supervisor Certificate (Hospitality). If you are in NSW, please be sure to add the NSW Food Authority certificate option at checkout.

SIRRFSA001 - Handle food safely in a retail environment
We are approved to issue the NSW Food Safety Supervisor Certificate.
IMPORTANT FOR NSW STUDENTS: In order to operate as a Food Safety Supervisor within New South Wales you require a certificate from the NSW Food Authority. A NSW Food Authority certificate is required to be added at the checkout if you work in NSW, at an additional total cost of $35 ($30 is the price the government charges to provide the certificate + $5 for printing and postage costs). This will be listed under "Optional extras you may wish to consider" after you select to enrol in this course.
Students in other states/territories (VIC, QLD, SA, TAS, WA, NT, ACT) do not require any additional certificates as the Statement of Attainment gained in this course is all that is required to operate as a Food Safety Supervisor in these locations.
You will need to meet our assessment condition requirements to complete our 100% online Course
Performance Evidence Video Submission assessment requirements:
This provides direct evidence that demonstrates your practical skills in an operational food preparation environment. You will submit your assessments (directly to the course page) by recording yourself completing several straight-forward examples of Food Safety in short, 2 minute smartphone videos, or setup a Zoom with one of our trainers to quickly demonstrate your skills live in less than 20 minutes.
Videos will need to be recorded in an operational food preparation environment or industry workplace.
Third Party Observation Report assessment requirements:
This provides supplementary evidence to further demonstrate your practical skills in an operational food preparation environment.
You must have a (recent past or present) nominated observer, with at least 18 months industry experience (eg. boss, supervisor, co-worker) willing to complete an electronic observation report on your behalf.
Please note: If you are looking to start your own business (e.g. at home cake making or a food truck) and you have no current food industry experience, or do not have anyone that can act as your third party observer, then our course is not for you. In this situation, we would recommend you research a reputable company that you can complete a face to face food safety course with. There, you can complete simulated activities in a suitably resourced training space and be observed by a qualified trainer.
